A Story of Passion Born in Saint-Liguori

The story of Lapointe Sports began in 1980, in Saint-Liguori, located in the Lanaudière region, thanks to the vision of Michel Lapointe. At that time, the dealership specialized in Bombardier Ski-Doo and Sea-Doo products — two iconic brands representing snowmobiling and water sports in Quebec.

In 1994, Jean Gariépy took over, continuing the mission of growth and excellence initiated by the founder. Then, on April 1, 2017, the company entered a new era with its acquisition by the St-Jean family, already well known in the recreational vehicle industry.

Steady Growth Through the Decades

Since its beginnings, Lapointe Sports has continuously evolved alongside the innovations of BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products). In 1995, the lineup expanded with sport boats, followed in 1999 by Bombardier ATVs, marking a new phase of diversification. More recently, BRP added AlumaCraft fishing boats and Manitou pontoons to its portfolio, offering outdoor enthusiasts even more variety and performance.

This rapid growth led Lapointe Sports to relocate in October 2000 to new, modern facilities of 14,000 sq. ft. in Notre-Dame-des-Prairies, near Joliette. In 2011, a major expansion further strengthened the dealership’s presence, with an indoor showroom large enough to display over 150 vehicles, a clothing and accessories store, an expanded service center, and spacious warehouses on a property of more than 400,000 sq. ft.

A Family Business Looking Toward the Future

Since 2017, Pierre-Alexandre and Marie-Christine St-Jean have been leading the company while preserving the founders’ original vision: to provide exceptional service and to offer one of the largest inventories of recreational vehicles in Canada.

With a dedicated team of 40 employees — joined by the 180 members of Groupe St-Jean — Lapointe Sports continues to innovate and grow, maintaining the high standards of quality that have defined its reputation for more than four decades.
